Frequently asked questions

In this section, you will find answers to the most important questions about how the platform works, accepting assignments, payments, additional costs, driver responsibilities, and the first steps after registration.

Our goal is to provide drivers with clear and easy-to-understand information in one place about how the platform works and what they can expect before, during, and after each trip.

What exactly is the job?

We are a platform that connects companies that need to relocate vehicles between cities across Europe with drivers who want to earn money by driving vehicles from one city to another.

A company lists a vehicle that needs to be transferred from City A to City B.

The exact payment for the transfer is clearly displayed in the app used by our drivers.

Once a driver applies for a specific transfer and the assignment is confirmed, the driver is responsible for transporting the vehicle to the specified destination.

After delivering the vehicle, the driver can either accept another available assignment and continue to another destination or finish for the day and return home.

Drivers are responsible for organizing their own onward journey or return home, just as they would normally organize their commute to and from work.

How does the work operate?

Every driver decides independently when they are available, which assignments they want to accept, and how much they want to earn.

Payment is made per completed transfer. The exact amount is determined in advance and displayed separately for each assignment in the app.

Drivers are personally responsible for any traffic violations committed while driving, just like any other person operating a vehicle.

How can I accept an assignment?

Once you have registered in the app and successfully completed identity verification, your account can be approved for booking available transfers.

After approval, you can start applying for available assignments.

Drivers and completed transfers are internally evaluated based, among other factors, on how efficiently vehicles reach their destinations from the time an assignment is allocated.

By speed, we do NOT mean driving fast or exceeding speed limits.

There is absolutely no need to speed. We require all drivers to comply with applicable traffic regulations at all times.

Speed refers to the time between receiving an assignment, starting the transfer and successfully delivering the vehicle.

For example:

If a driver receives an assignment on 27 May at 10:00 a.m. to transfer a vehicle from Zagreb to Zadar and delivers the vehicle in Zadar on the same day, that driver may receive a better internal rating than a driver who only collects and delivers the same vehicle the following day.

The Zagreb–Zadar route is approximately 300 km. Under normal driving conditions, this could mean around four hours of travel including a break.

However, our assessment is not based on whether the journey itself takes four, five or eight hours. What matters is whether the vehicle reaches its destination within the expected timeframe.

How many breaks you take during the journey is up to you, provided that the vehicle is delivered as agreed and all traffic and safety regulations are respected.

Am I employed by DriveBackNow?

You work on the basis of a service/contract-for-work arrangement, rather than a fixed employment contract.

This means there is no manager calling you to tell you when you have to start working. You decide when you are available and which assignments you want to accept.

How do I get paid?

Every transfer has a predefined payment amount, which is displayed before you accept the assignment.

Once the transfer has been successfully completed and approved, you become eligible for payment.

There are two payment models:

  1. Monthly payment
Your completed and approved assignments are settled on a monthly basis.
  2. Payment after approval of the assignment
You can request payment once the assignment has been reviewed and approved. The review normally takes a maximum of 72 hours after the vehicle has been delivered.

If there is a problem with the assignment documentation, you will receive a notification through the app explaining what needs to be corrected.

You decide which payment option you prefer. Settlement and payment requests are created and submitted directly through the app.

How are additional expenses reimbursed?

During a vehicle transfer, additional expenses directly related to the vehicle may occur, such as:

  • fuel
  • tolls
  • AdBlue
  • other necessary vehicle-related expenses

These expenses can be entered directly into the app and included in your settlement.

Receipts must be uploaded where required.

Additional expenses can be reimbursed:

  • weekly, or
  • after the relevant transfer has been approved.
Do I need a work permit?

DriveBackNow does not employ drivers under a standard fixed employment contract. Assignments are performed on a contractual basis from the driver's country of residence.

Whether you require a work permit, registration, tax status or another authorization may depend on your country of residence, nationality and the countries in which you perform services.

You are responsible for ensuring that you meet the legal requirements applicable to your individual situation.

How do I receive the money I have earned?

After settlement, your payment is transferred directly to the payment account you provide.

Depending on the available payment options, this may include a:

  • bank account
  • Revolut account
  • Aircash account

We primarily require your IBAN. You are free to choose which bank or supported payment provider you use.

Is this a full-time job or temporary work?

That depends entirely on you.

We have drivers who focus extensively on vehicle transfers and generate significant income from them.

We also have drivers who only accept assignments when they have free time.

Others use DriveBackNow when they already want to travel between two cities. Instead of paying for a train, bus, their own car or another transport option, they check whether there is a suitable vehicle transfer available for their planned route and can potentially earn money while travelling.

The amount of work you accept is your decision.

How do I get home after delivering a vehicle to another city?

Drivers plan their own routes.

For example, you may transfer a vehicle from one city to another and then accept another available transfer from that city to a third destination.

You decide when your working day is finished and where you want to go afterwards.

Therefore, organizing your return journey or onward travel is your own responsibility.

What are the first steps?

Getting started is simple:

  1. Download the DriveBackNow app.
  2. Create and complete your profile.
  3. Sign the required agreement in the app.
  4. Complete your identity and document verification.
  5. Submit your account for verification.
  6. Once your account has been approved, you can start applying for available transfers directly through the app.
What exactly do I need to do when I receive an assignment and collect the vehicle?

The app guides you through the entire process step by step.

However, there are several important requirements.

Before starting the transfer

The vehicle must be photographed thoroughly from all sides.

The more detailed the documentation, the better.

You should photograph:

  • the front of the vehicle
  • front-side angles
  • both sides
  • rear-side angles
  • the rear of the vehicle
  • any existing damage
  • the dashboard with the vehicle switched on
  • current mileage
  • fuel level

A minimum of 11 photographs is required, starting at the front of the vehicle and continuing around the vehicle.

We strongly recommend taking additional photographs if you notice scratches, dents or any other existing damage when collecting the vehicle.

The same documentation process must be completed when collecting and when delivering the vehicle.

The process normally takes no more than a few minutes. You can take all photographs first and then select and upload them together from your phone's gallery.

Once the required photographs have been uploaded, press Start Trip in the app.

The trip cannot be started until the minimum required photographic documentation has been uploaded.

What do I need to do when I reach the destination?

Before completing the assignment, upload any additional vehicle-related expenses.

For example, if you purchased fuel:

  1. Select Fuel as the expense category.
  2. Enter the amount shown on the receipt.
  3. Photograph and upload the receipt.

Repeat this process for tolls and any other approved additional expenses.

Afterwards, photograph the vehicle again at the delivery location and upload the required delivery photographs.

Finally, select Complete Assignment / Deliver Vehicle.

The transfer is now complete and automatically submitted for review.

The assignment will normally be reviewed within a maximum of 72 hours.

If there is an error—for example, an expense of €10.00 was accidentally entered as €1.00—you will receive a notification through the app asking you to correct the information.

How do I create a settlement for my transfers?

Settlement of completed transfers and additional expenses is handled exclusively through the Billing/Invoicing section of the DriveBackNow app.

Am I allowed to smoke inside the vehicle?

No. Smoking inside transferred vehicles is strictly prohibited.

Can I transport other passengers in the vehicle?

No.

Transporting unauthorized passengers in a vehicle being transferred is not permitted.

The assigned driver is responsible for the vehicle and its safe transfer. DriveBackNow does not authorize the use of transferred vehicles for transporting additional passengers.

Can I drive additional kilometres with the vehicle?

No.

The vehicle is provided exclusively for the assigned transfer between the defined starting point and destination.

Unnecessary additional mileage is not permitted.

Minor route deviations of up to approximately 10% may be tolerated where reasonably necessary due to traffic conditions, road closures, diversions or similar circumstances.

How does the algorithm for assigning transfers to drivers work?

Please see the section:

“How can I accept an assignment?”

Driver performance and assignment history may be considered when allocating available transfers.

What happens if I receive a traffic fine?

DriveBackNow does not require or encourage drivers to exceed speed limits or violate traffic regulations.

On the contrary, all Urban Riders are required to comply with the traffic laws and regulations of every country through which they travel.

Any traffic violations or penalties incurred by a driver are the driver's own responsibility.

Where legally applicable, fines or notices relating to a violation may be forwarded to the driver responsible for the vehicle at the relevant time.

Drivers are responsible for their own conduct on the road, without exception.

Do I need to register a business?

It is not necessarily required to register a business in order to complete assignments. The appropriate legal and tax arrangement depends on your country of residence, the frequency of your work, your income and your individual circumstances.

Some of our drivers complete a large number of transfers and therefore operate through their own registered business or company because this may be more suitable for their situation.

We can provide general information relevant to your country. For individual tax, social security or legal advice, you should consult the appropriate local authority or professional adviser.

Can I work if I live outside Croatia, for example in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia or Montenegro?

In principle, drivers from different countries can register and participate, subject to the applicable immigration, residence, work, tax and contractual requirements.

DriveBackNow does not provide EU residence permits, visas or work permits.

Accepting a vehicle transfer does not give you a right to reside or work in another country beyond what is permitted under the immigration and employment rules applicable to you.

Drivers living outside the EU—for example in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia or Montenegro—should therefore check the rules applicable to their individual circumstances before accepting cross-border assignments.

For drivers who perform transfers regularly, operating through a registered business may be an appropriate option depending on local legislation.
